Reflections

Throughout my first year, I developed my skills in using digital tools to support my learning and academic tasks. I regularly used platforms such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, online learning systems, and digital collaboration tools to complete requirements and present outputs effectively. Creating my developmental portfolio website and producing various presentations, infographics, and written outputs helped me understand the value of organizing information in meaningful ways. I also learned the importance of responsible technology use by practicing academic integrity, citing sources properly, and collaborating ethically with my classmates. These experiences strengthened my confidence in using digital tools and showed me how technology can support my growth as a future teacher who is prepared for a data-driven and technology-rich learning environment.

My academic experiences encouraged me to think creatively and find practical solutions to real-world problems. Through projects such as the Development of Robotics Peer Mentorship Program, the LumenAir Project, and various visual and multimedia outputs, I learned how innovation can be used to address educational and social challenges. I enjoyed exploring new ideas, combining concepts from different disciplines, and designing outputs that were both meaningful and engaging. These activities taught me that innovation is not only about creating something new but also about improving existing practices to make learning more effective. As a future educator, I aim to continue developing creative approaches that inspire curiosity, participation, and problem-solving among learners.

My General Education courses helped me become more reflective, empathetic, and understanding of different perspectives. Through reflection papers, discussions on social issues, and activities related to gender, history, and communication, I learned to examine my beliefs while respecting the experiences of others. I became more aware of the importance of ethical judgment, kindness, and compassion in both personal and academic settings. These experiences reminded me that teaching is not only about sharing knowledge but also about understanding students' needs and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. I believe that compassion and discernment are qualities that will guide me in becoming a responsible and caring educator.

My first year in college taught me the importance of continuous learning and personal growth. By setting academic goals, participating actively in group activities, and accepting feedback from my peers and instructors, I became more aware of my strengths and areas for improvement. Projects, research activities, and collaborative tasks challenged me to take initiative and develop leadership skills while working with others. I learned that growth happens when I remain open to new experiences and commit to improving myself every day. These experiences motivated me to become a lifelong learner who continually seeks knowledge and opportunities to better serve future students and communities.

My coursework exposed me to various social, cultural, historical, and global issues that broadened my perspective as a future educator. Through discussions and outputs related to gender equality, migrant workers, feminism, Philippine history, and intercultural understanding, I gained a deeper appreciation for diversity and the interconnectedness of communities around the world. I learned to respect different viewpoints and recognize how global issues affect local realities. These experiences encouraged me to become more socially aware and responsible in my actions. As a future teacher, I hope to help learners develop respect for diversity while encouraging them to become active contributors to both their local communities and the global society.
